So are these crazy maniacs for real?
Jumping over houses and trains and cars and planes?
If you are a true motorhead, you might find yourself mentally jumping off everything in sight. I remember as a kid I would always envision myself flying through the air like Evel Kneivel with the greatest of ease. Everything looked like a jump, and nothing seemed too difficult to attempt. So when I was 12, I decided to jump a canal on a 1979 Honda XL 185. I hit the jump at 55 mph, which was pretty close to the bike's top speed, flew 75 feet, and landed on the gas tank. I messed up a disk in my spine, but I was the coolest kid in my neighborhood for about a week. Then, this show-off punk decides to jump the street near our house on his Kawasaki two-stroke 125, and he blew away the neighborhood record and my short-lived glory. Whiney two-stroke bastard.
Now, twenty years later, I am relegated to admiring those who have the cajones and the physical ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound and escape the bounds of earth's gravity for those brief few moments. As for me, I will stick with the safe stuff, but someday I might go nuts and jump a car or something.
So if I was really, really cool, like Johnny Airtime or Jason Rennie (world record ramp-to-ramp distance holder of 253 feet), or any one of the other crazy maniacs you can find at cyclejumpers.com I would be either dead or famous.
You WISH this was real. Maybe it is, or maybe it isn't! Can you tell? (see answers at bottom!)
Check out the pics below and see if You can tell which of these guys really pulled off these stunts, or if I am just pulling your digitally-manipulated leg.
